Virginia DMV Services

Virginia residents use the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles when they need tags, titles, registrations, and driver’s licenses. If you need any of these services, you can go to one of the offices. These offices are conveniently located around the state, so you won’t have any trouble finding one near you.

These offices also administer tests. If you need to take a test at the DMV, make sure you arrive on time. Virginia DMVs do not issue tickets for testing if you arrive within 30 minutes of closing. Instead, you will be asked to come back at a later time.

Preparing for You Visit

If you go to the DMV, you want to be prepared in order to make the trip as quick as possible. Gather all of the necessary documents, including proof of identity. In addition, print the forms that you need at the DMV. The DMV website has all of the forms that drivers and motor vehicle owners need. Find your required form and fill it out. Then, take the form with you during your visit. That way, you won’t have to fill out the form and then get back in line at the DMV. This will speed up the process quite a bit.

Online Services

The DMV makes it easy for people who don’t want to visit a physical location. You can complete most of the tasks online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Available online services include:

  • Registration renewal
  • Insurance verification
  • Title printing
  • Plate deactivation and reactivation
  • Registration card replacement
  • Title replacement
  • ID and license renewal and replacement

Make sure that your printer is working before you use the online services. That way, you can print off the necessary documents.
