To get your instruction permit or driver’s license in Idaho, you’ll need to pass a written knowledge exam based on the 2024 Idaho Driver’s Manual. The test will have 40 multiple-choice questions, of which you’ll need to answer a minimum of 85% correctly to pass. Question topics will range from road signs and traffic laws, to traffic fines and license restrictions under the graduated license program. Once you’re ready, the written exam will come with a $3 testing fee, the driving exam will have a $24 testing fee, and your physical permit will be $15, or license $15-25. Make sure to study, as if you’re not able to pass the first time you’ll have to wait three days to retake the written knowledge exam. This DMV practice exam in Exam Mode is a helpful tool to make sure you feel prepared and ready for your exam before you head to your local DMV. It is most similar to the real exam, as hints and explanations are disabled and the test will stop once you have either passed or failed.
