The written knowledge test for Indiana is broken into two sections: the first focused on road rules and the second focused on road signs. The questions, which are based on the 2024 Indiana Driver’s Manual, will be multiple-choice, and you’ll need to pass both sections of the test with an 84% total score to pass the entire exam and receive your learner’s permit. In the two sections, you’ll need to correctly answer 28 of the 34 questions on road rules, and 14 of the 16 questions on road signage to conquer the exam. The test is scored in whole, so you’ll need to receive a passing score on both sections at once to get your learner’s permit. In addition, you’ll also need to pass a vision test, prove you have enrolled in a driver’s education class if you’re 15, and provide proof of identity, residence, and social security number, then pay a $9 permit fee. You can retake the test as soon as the next day, but if you have to attempt more than three times, you’ll have to wait a minimum of 60 days before you can try again. This BMV permit practice test will help you target your studying to help you pass on your first try.
