Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 5p.m. You can find all of the locations along with their contact information at http://www.flhsmv.gov/offices/ . The permit test can also be taken online in Florida in conjunction with a Drug and Alcohol course. Schools such as www.123driving.com can provide this for you.
  • How do I contact the Florida DMV office?

To find your individual DMV office, you should log on to http://www.flhsmv.gov/offices/ . If you would like to speak to a customer service center representative call (850) 617-2000 Monday through Friday 7a.m. to 5:45p.m.
  • Who needs to bring me for my permit test?

Your parents can bring you because they must sign your application. If they aren’t able to bring you, a licensed driver age 21 older may bring you. Just be sure that your application has been signed already by your parents in front of a notary public.
  • Will I have to get a physical in order to get a license in Florida?

No. A physical isn’t required when getting a license in Florida.
  • Is a vision test required in order to get a license in the state of Florida?

Yes. The vision test is done on an eye machine located at the driver’s license counter. Vision tests are done at all license offices. If you score worse than 20/40, you will be referred to an eye specialist.
  • Where should I go for my driver’s license photo in Florida?

You don’t have to worry about your driver’s license photo. It will be taken at the DMV office once you pass your written test.
  • How do I apply for my Florida driver’s license?

Here are the steps you should take when you begin the licensing process.
    • Step 1: Take a required Learners Permit (Traffic Law and Drug/Alcohol) Course.
    • Step 2: Gather your required identification documents
    • Step 3: Take the DMV written Exam (if you are 15 or older) either at a DMV office or online with a state approved Online Licensing course.
    • Step 4: Go to your local DMV office to take your vision test and hearing test
    • Step 5: Have your picture taken and receive your learner’s permit.
  • Do I need to put up hair when taking driver's license photo?

You may wear your hair the same way you would normally wear it; however, it should not be covering your face or your eyes. The purpose of the photo is to be able to identify who you really are. Besides, you would not want to hide that amazing face!
  • What make-up to wear when I get my FL driver's license picture taken?

Wear your normal make-up; however, the less make-up the better. As long as you are not wearing so much make-up to where you are unrecognizable, you will be fine!
  • Why is it best not to smile when taking your drivers license picture?

Some states are moving towards face recognition technology that will be able to uniquely identify each individual. A straight face on the photo helps distinguish who you really are. This is all in an effort to stop fraud.
  • What are some tips for getting the best out of the driver's license picture?

Look straight into the camera and keep a calm and relaxed face!
  • What will happen after I apply for my Florida driver’s license?

After you pass your written exam, you will receive your learner’s permit. If you are 18 or under you must wait at least 12 months before applying for your road test. If you are older than 18, you may apply for your license as early as the same day you get your learner’s permit.
  • I have a question that's not answered above. What do I do?

If you can't find the answer to your question above or need any further assistance, you're welcome to contact us directly at [email protected].
