With over 6,400 miles of coastline Alaskans have a good amount of ground to cover. If you want to get from oil field to fishery you’ll need to get your driver’s license in order. Starting at age 14, Alaska allows its residents to begin learning to drive. Those who are 14 years or older may take a written knowledge test based on the 2024 Alaska Driver Manual to begin the licensing process, which consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, and you’ll need to correctly answer at least 16 to pass. If you’re between the ages of 14 and 16, you can take the knowledge test to qualify for a two-year permit. If you’re 16 or older, you will need to take the written exam in addition to a driving test for your license. After taking your vision test they are going to get you right to the written exam and you’ll need to be ready. After getting through the study options on our site, our exam simulator is the last stop — an exact replica of the written knowledge exam, with no hints or explanations. And, just like the real test — if you get too many wrong, you’ll have to start over. But this test pulls from a huge bank of questions, so you’ll never have the same experience twice. If you feel you already have your signage, safety and speed limits down you are ready to hit the exam simulator. Then all you need is $20 for your license and the ability to avoid a muskox when you see one on the road.
