The DMV written test for Alaska is a 20-question multiple-choice test to get your instructional permit. To pass the test you’ll need to correctly answer at least 16 of the questions; questions will cover road signs, safe driving practices, rules of the road, and fines and limits. All questions will be directly pulled from the 2024 State of Alaska Driver Manual. To take the written test, you’ll need to pass a standard eye exam and pay a $15 fee for your permit. Make sure to also bring appropriate identification, and signed parental consent if you’re under 18. You may test for an instruction permit starting at age 14, and it will be valid for two years. If you don’t pass your knowledge test, you’ll have to come back on another day to try again. This DMV practice test will help make sure you can pass on your first try.
