Understanding road signs will play a large part in passing your written knowledge test for your Hawaii learner’s permit or license. The knowledge exam will be 30 multiple-choice questions based on the 2024 Hawaii Drivers Manual, and is available to take once you are at least 15 ½ years old. To pass the test and begin your process towards a license, you’ll need to answer at least 25 of the 30 questions correctly. This DMV practice test will focus solely on road signage, a topic that encompasses any signs or signals you may see while driving, including traffic lights, warning signs, informational signs, and regulatory signs. When you’re ready to take your test at your local DMV office, make sure to bring along your birth certificate, social security card, signed parental consent if you’re still a minor, and the applicable fees. The written knowledge test costs $2 each time you take it or $10 if you choose to take the oral version, which is only available at certain locations. The road test costs $8, and each permit or license costs an additional $5-10. While you’re there, you’ll also need to pass a vision test and provide your fingerprints.
