  • How old do I have to be before I can apply for my driver’s license in Nebraska?

    Nebraska has a Graduated Licensing System that issues different permits based on age.
    • You may apply for your school’s learner’s permit (LPE) as early as age 14.
    • You may apply for your School Permit (SCP) if you are between the ages of 14 and 16. You must have held your LPE or LPD for at least 2 months before applying for this sort of permit.
    • You may apply for your LPD Learner’s permit starting at age 15.
    • You may apply for your Provisional Operator’s Permit (POP) starting at age 16.
    You must have held your LPE, LPD or SCP for at least 6 months.
  • Are there certain documents I should take when I apply for my Nebraska license?

    The state of Nebraska requires you to provide 4 things:
    • One Form of ID

    • You may complete a driver safety course approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
      Or
    • You may get at least 50 hours of behind-the-wheel training. You must have a certification form signed by a licensed driver who is at least 21. The certification form must show that at least 10 hours were done at night.
