Hello future driver! Are you ready to take our road signs test and get yourself out onto the cornfields and city streets of Iowa?
Iowa’s roads have their own unique features. You will be expected to know signs related to farm equipment on rural roads, flood warnings near rivers, snow and ice warnings during winter, and crossings that include bike paths. We love our trails here!
If you’re in the Graduated Driver’s License program, this practice test is a big step. It will help you handle such things as winding northeast Iowa roads and heavy farm traffic during harvest.
Our state’s big on farming and our signs reflect that. Watch for “Hay on Road” heads-ups, markers for biofuel stations, and deer crossing warnings. Believe me, those deer are everywhere!
Be prepared for Iowa’s wild weather. In winter, watch for icy bridge warnings, on open roads high wind alerts, and in spring detour signs for floods. Here’s an Iowa special: Avenue of the Saints signs on Hwy 27. It’s a big route through the state.
Not only memorize the traffic signs to pass the test but also to be a good driver in Iowa, whether it be on some small-town street or I-80. This practice test is just like the real thing at the DOT. Ace it, and you’ll be ready to explore Iowa-from the Mississippi River bluffs to the Missouri River valley.
Good luck! Stay safe out there, and enjoy the ride across the Hawkeye State.
