If you are a Connecticut resident who has ever considered becoming a bus driver or the driver of a 15-passenger van, this may be the time to make your move. Connecticut recently invested $4.5 million to address the need for these positions to serve targeted industries, such as public transportation and health care. How can you secure one of these jobs? First, you will need to become a licensed Class A, B, or C Connecticut CDL driver.
A ‘P’ endorsement is required on a Connecticut CDL for drivers to operate a vehicle that can transport more than 15 people, including the driver. Applicants are required to pass both a written and a road skills test in a passenger-carrying vehicle to obtain this endorsement on their CDL. The written test includes four sections covering: Driving Safely, Transporting Passengers Safely, Vehicle Inspection, and Basic Vehicle Control Skills. Successful applicants need to answer 16 of the (question-num) questions correctly to receive a passing score.
