Free LA CDL Double/Triple Trailers Practice Test 2025

    • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
    • Based on 2025 LA commercial driver's license manual
    • Updated for April 2025

Want to pull doubles in Louisiana? (The state does not allow triple trailers.) You must hold a Class A CDL and obtain a Double/Triple (T) endorsement on your CDL. The limited number of drivers with this endorsement and their specialized skills and additional responsibilities place them in high demand.

In Louisiana, as in much of the rest of the nation, the logistics and retail sectors make great use of double trailers for efficient transport. Double-trailer trucks transport containers and bulk goods between the state’s ports, rail yards, and warehouses. Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) carriers, such as XPO Logistics, use doubles to transport cargo between warehouses and distribution hubs. Wholesale and retail distributors, such as Associated Grocers, Inc., use double trailers for bulk shipments of grocery products, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods. Other Louisiana sectors employing double trailers include oil and gas refining (to transport petroleum products and refined fuels) and the construction industry (to transport concrete, aggregate, and construction materials).

To obtain the Double/Triple Endorsement on your CDL, you must pass the Double/Triple knowledge test. This test covers such topics as safe handling, air brakes on doubles and triples, coupling and uncoupling, emergency situations, pre-trip inspections, rollovers, and trailer sway. (Note that no special skills test is required for this endorsement.)

This knowledge test is based on the official Louisiana CDL manual (Louisiana CDL Handbook 2025), especially Chapter 7: Doubles and Triples. You may have found that absorbing the information in this manual can be challenging. We can help ensure you pass the knowledge test on your first try.

This Louisiana Doubles and Triples Endorsement Practice Test, the first of five we offer, is based on the official CDL manual, just like the official Double/Triple knowledge test. It’s up to date as of April 2025. The 20 multiple-choice practice questions and answers on this practice test deal with air lines, converter dollies, coupling, emergency situations, following distance, and rearward amplification.

Our AI Assistant can help you figure out the answer to any practice question. You can ask it to give you a hint or rephrase the question. You can also ask your own questions. If you still miss the question, the AI Assistant will immediately give you the correct answer and an explanation.
