To add the Double and Triple Trailer endorsement to your Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), the main hurdle is passing a 20-question multiple-choice knowledge test. You’ll need a score of 80% (16 correct answers) to pass this test. After passing, you’ll receive the “T” endorsement on your CDL, which is your authorization to pull two or three trailers (where laws allow) and drive combination vehicles that require this added expertise (Michigan CDL Handbook 2024).
In the Great Lakes State, even with a Double and Triple Trailer endorsement, you’re only allowed to pull double trailers. Rest assured, though, earning this endorsement not only increases your standing in the transport industry but dramatically raises your job prospects and earning potential, especially in Michigan. {State-name} has a higher weight limit due to the nature of much of its industrial transport needs, so double trailers are often used for the transport of automotive parts, gravel and sand, steel and metal, wood and lumber, and, of course, general freight and consumer goods. You may be saying to yourself, “This sounds incredible! But how can I best prepare for the test?”
With so much online information available, it’s easy to feel completely overwhelmed. What you need is a systematic, targeted approach, and that’s exactly what our online practice test offers. Up to date as of December 2024, it includes 20 multiple-choice questions that resemble what you will face at the DOS on your test day!
As you work through our Michigan CDL Double/Triple trailers practice test, you’ll receive real-time in-depth feedback on your answers. Get a question wrong? No worries! You’ll immediately see why a different response is correct. This process strengthens your memory as you progress instead of bombarding you with a multi-topic summary at the end.
In Michigan, passing the knowledge test is the only requirement for adding the “T” endorsement to your Class A CDL. There is no additional driving test. Once you’ve prepared, practiced with our free tests, and feel confident, simply apply at the DOS. Bring your documents, pay the appropriate fee, and pass the test to officially receive the endorsement.
