From the flat farmlands of western Ohio, the rolling hills of the southeast, and the beautiful views of Lake Erie, you’re sure to encounter a rich display of diversity in both terrain and weather as you drive these roads. Since you’re here, you must be considering adding the Doubles/Triples Trailers (T) endorsement to your Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Before we dive into what is needed to obtain this certification, just know at the outset that adding it to your commercial license opens a world of career opportunities and income-producing marketability. We’ll discuss that in more detail in a moment.

All you have to do is pass a 20-question multiple-choice knowledge test. To pass, you’ll need a score of 80% (16 correct answers). No additional skills test is needed. Once you pass this knowledge test, you’ll receive the “T” endorsement on your CDL, authorizing you to pull two or three trailers (where allowed) (Ohio CDL Handbook 2024).

In the Buckeye State, you must be at least 18 years of age to add this certification to your CDL; however, the age requirement to travel across state lines is federally mandated at 21 or older. While the Double-Triple Trailers endorsement technically qualifies you for both doubles and triples, you’re only permitted to tow double trailers in Ohio. That said, double trailers are often used throughout Ohio for the transport of automotive parts and vehicles (Detroit, Cleveland, and Toledo are major hubs), agricultural products like soybeans, dairy, and livestock, steel and industrial products, chemicals and plastics, and consumer goods and electronics. By this point, you’re probably saying, “Great! But how can I best prepare for the test?”

Our online Ohio CDL Double/Triple Trailers Endorsement practice test is designed to cut through the daunting amount of information you will find on the internet. Up to date as of December 2024, it includes 20 multiple-choice questions that resemble what you will face at the BMV on your test day! You’ll also receive instant feedback on each answer, allowing for real-time learning versus sorting through a mountain of feedback at the end.

When you’re ready and confident from practicing with our free tests, simply apply at the BMV. Bring your documents, pay the fee, pass with flying colors, and unlock a wealth of new opportunities.
