Wyoming is a major trucking hub, particularly for agricultural and dairy products. Due to the substantial freight movement across its borders, the demand for truck drivers remains consistently high. If you’re looking to drive heavy combination vehicles like tractor-trailers or semi-trucks, you’ll need a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Because this license has several restrictions, you can remove the one for Combination Vehicles by passing a separate knowledge test. If your truck is equipped with air brakes, you’ll have to remove this restriction as well.
A CDL skills test is also required, which you may take in a combination vehicle. It includes a pre-trip inspection, basic vehicle control and on-road driving, where your ability to handle the combination vehicle will be evaluated by a certified examiner.
The northern part of Wyoming has a proeminent timber industry, with many logging trucks transporting raw materials through rural areas. If your dream is to contribute to this industry, be advised that snow and ice are common in winter. Trucks frequently encounter challenging conditions during this time, so you’ll have to know the limitations and fully master the handling of your vehicle. The right to drive combination vehicles is not given lightly and you’ll need to pass a written exam that evaluates your knowledge of this subject.
It takes a lot of practice on the job to become a proficient driver, but the official 2025 CDL manual has enough information for you to pass the knowledge test. There are numerous online resources to enhance your learning journey, which you should use to your advantage.
Our CDL combination practice tests closely reflect the official written exam. There are 25 questions, and you’ll need a score of 80% to pass. Each question has several answer options but only one is correct, so you shouldn’t complicate things by looking for multiple answers.
After submitting an answer, you’ll receive immediate feedback with a detailed explanation. This gives you the opportunity to identify mistakes, strengthen your knowledge and develop a better understanding of the scenarios presented. Unlike the official exam, our practice tests don’t have a timer. Do not rush through the questions and make sure you’re confident of your choice before you submit it.
