Minnesota requires that you must first practice your driving skills while holding a learner’s permit, no matter your age. To get your permit, you’ll need to pass a written knowledge test consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions based on the 2024 Minnesota Driver’s Manual. To pass, you’ll need to correctly answer at least 32 of the 40 questions, scoring a minimum of 80%. You’ll have two free attempts to pass the knowledge test, and after that, you’ll be required to pay a $10 test fee each subsequent test. Minors applying for their permit must be at least 15 years old, have parental approval, and show that they’ve completed a driver’s education class and signed up for a behind-the-wheel course. No matter your age, you’ll need to pass the knowledge test, a vision test, provide proof of identification and residence, and pay a $13.25 permit fee. This DVS practice test is set up in Exam Mode to help you experience what the real test will be like, so hints and answers are disabled, and the test will end early if you miss too many questions.
