Montana uses a Graduated Driver Licensing Program for minors who are learning to drive. Beginning at age 14 ½ if you’ve enrolled in an approved training course, you can take a written knowledge exam to get your learner license. The written exam will be a multiple-choice test made up of 33 questions pulled from the 2024 Montana Driver Manual. To pass the exam, you cannot miss more than six questions, scoring an 82% or higher. The handbook covers information about traffic signals, pedestrian safety laws, driving under the influence, safe driving practices, seatbelt laws, and more. To apply for your learner license, you’ll need to make an appointment with the MVD testing center near you, pass the knowledge and vision tests, show proof of your identity and state residency, pay the $5 licensing fee, and have parental consent as a minor. This MVD practice test will help you study before you take your official exam.
