The Graduated Driver License Program in Montana is designed for new drivers who are minors beginning at age 14 ½. To get a learner license, you’ll need to pass a written knowledge test with an 82% or higher. Since the written test, which is based on the 2024 Montana Driver Manual, consists of 33 multiple-choice questions, you cannot miss more than six questions if you want to pass. When you show up to your testing appointment with the MVD, you’ll need to remember your proof of identity, residence, and social security number, as well as the $5 license fee. If you’re a minor, you’ll need to have a parent or guardian provide parental consent, and if you’re under 16, you’ll need to show enrollment in an approved driver’s training course. This MVD practice test will focus on a portion of the knowledge exam centering on road signs and situations, found in chapters three and four of the handbook.
