In Alabama, all aspiring drivers must pass three official tests before they can become eligible for a driver’s license: a vision exam, a knowledge test on driving theory, and a road skills test in which they will perform various driving maneuvers for a test examiner. If you’re under 18, you must first earn an instruction permit (for which the vision and knowledge tests are key requirements) unless you are married or the head of a household. The permit will allow you to practice driving while supervised. If you’re 18 or older, an instruction permit is optional if you need more supervised driving practice. You can take the road skills test as soon as you feel ready for it.
This is our fourth Alabama Permit Practice Test. Like our first three permit practice tests, we created it to help aspiring drivers like you pass the Alabama knowledge test. If you’ve already taken those first three practice tests, then you know that these practice tests are multiple choice. Each question comes with several answer options. You must choose the best or most complete answer. Just like the official knowledge test, these practice tests are based on the official Alabama driver’s manual (Alabama DMV Handbook (AL Driver's Manual) 2025), and their passing score is 80%.
This fourth Alabama Permit Practice Test includes questions on turns, right-of-way rules, road signs, traffic signals, pavement markings, railroad crossings, and freeway driving. Our AI assistant can help you with any practice question. It can rephrase the question, supply a hint, or answer your own questions about driving. If you still miss the question, the AI assistant will immediately tell you and explain the correct answer.
We can’t give you a PDF list of the exact Alabama permit test questions and answers you’ll encounter on your knowledge (permit) test. The DMV has a lot of test questions to choose from, and only they know which questions they’re including on your test. However, our tools can give you a good idea of what to expect. First, our practice test questions cover all the topics that the official knowledge test will likely address. Second, our knowledge test preparation program includes two PDF “cheat sheets” (in the sense of quick references, not for actual cheating!): “The Top 100 Most Common US DMV Questions” and “The 121 Most Common US Road Signs Questions.” These are the most likely questions to appear on your knowledge test. Each question listed comes with the correct answer, which you can study and memorize.
Finally, we have two more Alabama Permit Practice Tests for you. Check them out too!
