Fort Valley has been known as the Peach Capital of the World, Sylvester is often called the Peanut Capital of the World, and Albany is known as the Pecan Capital of the World. To these three “P’s,” we want to help you add a fourth one: Pass the Georgia DDS knowledge exam!
The knowledge exam is one of three tests you must pass to qualify for a driver’s license. The other two required tests are a vision exam and a road skills test. The knowledge and vision tests are also the two required tests for a learner’s (instructional) permit. If you’re under 18 or have never driven before, you must obtain this credential to allow you to practice driving under adult supervision.
The knowledge exam consists of two tests: the Road Rules test and the Road Signs test, each of which has 20 multiple-choice questions. All the questions on these two tests are based on the official driver’s manual (Georgia DDS Handbook (GA Driver's Manual) 2025). The passing score for each test is 75%, and you must pass both tests to pass the knowledge exam.
Think it will be easy to pass the DDS knowledge exam once you’ve read the official driver’s manual a couple of times? Not necessarily! In 2020 – 2023, 33.1% – about one-third – of aspiring drivers failed the Georgia knowledge exam on their first try. Therefore, we’ve provided you with a set of interactive test preparation tools. Our premier tool is a graduated series of practice tests also based on the official driver’s manual. Each practice test is accompanied by our AI assistant, which can give you hints and explanations to help you answer the test questions and learn the material.
Now we have one more step for you: our Exam Simulator test.
This Exam Simulator runs in Simulated Exam Mode, resembling official exam conditions. The test consists of 40 questions based on the official manual, just like those on the official DDS knowledge exam. The passing score is 75%, just like the official knowledge exam. Our AI assistant is unavailable for this test, so there are no hints or explanations to help you. You’re on your own, just like on the official knowledge exam.
By giving you a realistic exam experience now, you’ll learn what to expect on the official knowledge exam. This will reduce your chance of an unpleasant surprise on the official knowledge exam and help build your confidence that you can easily ace the official exam on your first try.
Good luck!
