Illinois DMV Permit Practice Test Four 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and Senior Refresher Test
  • Based on official Illinois Driver's manual
  • Updated for January 2025

If you’re 15 or older, you may take a written knowledge test based on the 2025 Illinois Rules of the Road to start down the path towards your driver’s license. The test has 35 multiple-choice questions, and you’ll need to successfully answer at least 28 to pass. If you’re under 18, you’ll be required to hold your permit for nine months before you can take your driving test and receive a license. The written and driving tests are offered at your local SOS office. While there, you’ll be required to take a vision test, provide paperwork to prove your identity, signature, and address, and pay the $20 fee for your instruction permit or $2-30 fee for your license, depending on your age. If you are a minor, you will also be required to show you’ve completed or are enrolled in an approved driver’s education course before you may receive your license. If you’re not able to pass the written test on your first attempt, you may come back to retest the next day, but you are only allowed three attempts within one year. Use this SOS practice knowledge test to help so you can pass on your first try.
