KS DMV driver's license

Free DMV Written Test Simulator for Kansas | Updated for 2025

  • Perfect for learner’s permit, driver’s license, and Senior Refresher Test
  • Based on official Kansas Driver's manual
  • Updated for March 2025

In Kansas, the requirements you must meet to obtain a driver’s license depend on your age. If you’re under 17, you must obtain an instruction permit before you may apply for a license. Your permit will allow you to practice driving under supervision. If you’re at least 17 years of age, an instruction permit is optional; you can get one if you need supervised driving practice. Some of the requirements for a permit are being at least 14 years of age, passing the vision test, and passing the Kansas DMV written knowledge test. (However, you may waive the knowledge test if you’re enrolled in an approved driver’s education course.) Finally, if you’re under 18, you must obtain signed consent from a parent or guardian before obtaining a permit or license.

If you’re at least 17 years old, the requirements you must meet for a full license include passing the vision test and either passing the written and driving (road) tests or completing an approved driver’s education course.

All 25 questions on the official written test are based on information in the official Kansas DMV driver’s manual (Kansas DMV Handbook (KS Driver's Manual) 2025).

This test is our second Kansas Permit Practice Test. We created these practice tests to help aspiring drivers like you pass the DMV written test on their first try. Like the official written test, these practice tests are up to date as of March 2025 and based on the official Kansas driver’s manual.

This practice test comes with our AI Assistant, which can help you with any practice question. It can rephrase the question, supply a hint, or answer any questions you might have about driving. If you still miss the question, the AI Assistant will immediately tell you and explain the correct answer. Watch the Progress Bar to track your score. It will mark in green each question you answer correctly and mark in red each question you get wrong.

Disappointed by your final score? You may retake this practice test as often as you wish until you’re satisfied with your score. Each time, the order of the questions will be randomized.

Do you have that gnawing worry that you might forget something or freeze up on the day of your official written test? That’s why we also created our own Kansas Permit Test Study Guide to ensure you’re ready for the written test day. It covers how to prepare your mind and body for the test, what documents to take to the DMV, and other last-minute test tips.
