The Colorado DMV written test will be 25 multiple-choice questions, of which you’ll need to correctly answer a minimum of 20 to get your permit. A significant portion of the written knowledge test is based on road signs. This DMV practice test will focus on Section 4 of the 2024 Colorado Driver Handbook: Rules of the Road. Road signage can be warning, regulatory, informative, guide, and emergency signs that you see on the side of the road or highway, but can also include pavement markings. You should be able to recognize road signs and indicate what they are communicating as well as what your reaction should be if they require action. Your written test at the DMV will include a standard eye exam, and you’ll be required to a pay a $16.80 permit fee. If you need to retake the test, you’ll need to pay an $11.15 retesting fee.
