You’ve probably taken our other practice tests that assessed your understanding of the traffic laws. Now try our free Massachusetts Fines and Limits permit practice test! This unique test is about the official penalties and other consequences you may face if you violate some of those laws. The questions on this practice test are some of the hardest you may get on your learner’s permit test. They are also a reminder of how serious it can be to violate the traffic laws.

This practice test is up to date as of December 2024. The 50 questions on this practice test are based on Massachusetts’s official driver’s manual (Massachusetts RMV Handbook (MA Driver's Manual) 2024).

The questions and answers on this test focus on various circumstances that can lead to the loss of your driving privileges: What is the length of license suspension for a Junior Operator who is found guilty of speeding, driving unsupervised, reckless driving, drag racing, or several violations of the Junior Operator’s License restrictions? What is the length of license suspension for an adult driver convicted of leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run) in which someone was injured? What is the length of license suspension for an adult driver convicted of vehicular manslaughter? What is the prison sentence for a first conviction of operating under the influence (OUI)? How many OUI convictions will leave you with a felony criminal record? How many convictions for speeding will cause an adult’s license to be suspended? Finally, what are some non-driving-related offenses that may result in license suspension?

As with all the permit practice tests we offer, each question on the Massachusetts Fines and Limits permit practice test comes with an optional hint and an explanation of the correct answer, courtesy of our automated assistant.

The traffic laws help ensure the safety of all road users. That’s why there are state-mandated penalties for violating them.

Good luck with your learner’s permit test, and stay safe!
