To get your learner license or driver’s license in Montana, you’ll first need to schedule an appointment to take a written knowledge test based on the 2024 Montana Driver Manual. The exam consists of 33 multiple-choice questions, and you’ll need to answer at least 27 questions correctly to pass and be eligible for your license. Under the graduated licensing program, you may take the written exam as young as 14 ½ if you’re enrolled in a driver training program, or 16 if you choose not to take a class. You’ll be required to hold your learner license for six months before you may take the driving test for a first-year restricted license. At the MVD, you’ll take your written exam, a vision test, show proof of residence, identity, and social security number, and pay the $5 license fee. If you’re a minor, you’ll also need a parent to give consent. This MVD practice test is set in Exam Mode to help you experience what your real exam will be like. Hints and answers have been disabled, and the test will end early if you’ve missed too many questions to pass.
